This is a genuine Castle, once owned by the Neville Earls of Westmorland, has a lot of history, was HQ for the Durham Light Infantry before falling into neglect and being rescued by the current owners, who are doing their best to restore and preserve it.
Following the first event of it’s kind in the North East in 2015 The North East Re-Enactment & LARP Market is now an annual event, staged the weekend prior to the National Living History Fayre so that traders coming from far afield such as Poland can do more than one market for one ferry or tunnel crossing. This means that there is a large and varied selection of re-enacting & LARP merchandise on sale from far and wide, as well as traders like ourselves who are very close to home for a change!
The location in the North East is excellent, being easy reach of the A1(M), and close to Durham, Sunderland, Middlesborough, Darlington, Gateshead, Newcastle and not that far from Edinburgh.
